COVID-19 Class Procedures

Before Arriving At Altius

  • Have your child use the bathroom and wash their hands before coming to Altius.
  • Make sure hair is pulled back and that any cuts are covered.
  • Have your mask!
  • Have a bag prepared for your child to take to class with them. This bag may contain such items as a water bottle, hair ties, chalk, athletic tape, and band-aids.

Arriving For Class

  • Drop your child off at the main entrance.
  • Everyone entering must clean their hands and receive a fast temperature check.
  • Everyone over the age of 5 must wear a mask while in the lobby area.
  • Children will then move to their designated warm-up area (Purple Gate, Green Gate, or Kindergym Room, depending on class). The Room listed in your enrollment information indicates their area.
  • Children cannot leave any personal belongings in the lobby, including shoes, non-gymnastics clothes, and jackets. Please limit the number of items brought in to the gym. If you drop off your child, they must carry their belongings with them in their gym bag.
  • Children over five will begin their classes with their mask on. Warm ups, instructions, and low-intensity skills will take place while masked.

  • Please observe social distancing in the lobby area. Spectating is not encouraged, but Altius understands that it may be necessary for some. Only one adult spectator per child is allowed inside the lobby. Families who have additional children in the program and need to wait for a class to start or finish, or families with younger children who need to stay with a parent, may sit together.
  • Chairs close to the Kindergym area are designated for Kindergym families only.
  • Masks are required for all spectators and non-participating individuals.
  • While we clean out lobby multiple times daily, we would appreciate it if you wiped down your chair after using it (much like wiping down workout equipment at a gym!) Paper towels and spray bottles are available around the lobby.

Leaving Class

  • Children will end their class in the location that they started from. Students on the front floor will exit at the Blue Gate and go outside. Children at Green or Kindergym will exit from those same locations.
  • Please be prompt in picking up your children.

All students are required to bring their own bag to practice.

We recommend a string bag, back pack, or gym bag. Bags should be large enough to zip / cinch easily with everything inside. Students will enter Altius and store their shoes and clothes in their bag. We recommend wearing only flip flops and a t-shirt over your leo if weather allows. Progressive and Ninja students will carry their bag from event to event and store them separately from each other. Kindergym students can leave their bags with their parents or store them separately in the Kindergym room. Sharing supplies and equipment is not allowed.

All items should be clearly labeled with your child’s name.

  • Gym bags should include:
  • Outside identification; luggage tag, unique ribbon, or name tag - something for your child to easily identify it by
  • Travel size hand sanitizer; Altius has multiple sanitizing options, pack an individual size for convenience and less contact
  • Band Aids and tape (can be purchased at Altius)
  • Filled water bottle; water only. Bubblers are closed, water will be available for purchase.
  • Pouch with extra hair ties, clips, brush, etc.
  • Tissues

COVID-19 Customer Agreement

I want to do my part to help Altius Gymnastics keep all students, coaches, and families safe during the Covid-19 pandemic. I have read, understood, and agree to follow the following policies and procedures.

I understand and agree that:

  • I should have my child(ren) use the restroom and wash their hands at home, before arriving at Altius Gymnastics.
  • I will drop my child(ren) off and pick them up at the designated door to the gym.
  • My contact information must be up to date, and that I remain reachable while my child is attending practice.
  • Only one parent or non-participating individual will be allowed to enter the building at the main entrance.
  • I will observe social distancing in the lobby area. Spectating is not encouraged, but Altius understands that it may be necessary for some.
  • Altius requires hand sanitizing for everyone who enters the building.
  • Masks are required based on state and local mandates. All spectators must wear masks at all times. Participants over the age of five must wear a mask while in the lobby, while warming up and receiving instruction, and while practicing skills that can be performed safely while wearing a facial covering.
  • My child(ren) cannot leave any personal belongings in the lobby, including shoes, non-gymnastics clothes, and jackets. I will limit the number of items brought in to the gym. If you drop off your child, they must carry their belongings with them in a personal bag.
  • Practice start and end times have been adjusted and staggered to ensure a safe entrance and exit from the gym and to allow for cleaning between each class period.
  • Child(ren) will report to their designated warm-up area
  • My child(ren) will have frequent opportunities to sanitize their hands while inside the facility.
  • I will keep my child home if my child or anyone in our household has a known direct exposure to COVID and is awaiting test results, even if they are not showing symptoms. The student can return to the gym when test results are negative or when the positive case has been cleared by the community health department. This does not include tests required by employers or other non-exposure related reasons. If a violation of this policy comes to our attention, Altius reserves the right to deny entry or send a student home immediately.
  • I will have my child(ren) wash hands and feet thoroughly upon arriving back home. Clean their bag upon arriving home, and again before bringing it back to the gym.
  • I understand that all Altius staff members will make a strong effort to socially distance, but that due to the nature of the sport, there will be times that contact or less than prescribed physical distancing will occur.
  • Spotting is sometimes necessary for safety and to prevent injury. Children will only be spotted as needed.
  • I am allowing my child to participate at Altius Gymnastics, knowing that it is impossible to keep them, myself, or any other individual inside the gym completely safe from COVID-19 exposure.
  • These procedures will evolve and change over time, and that I will follow any new standards required by the state and local government, and by Altius Gymnastics Academy.

Tuition & Billing

What is the Summer Billing Cycle? Can I add on Additional Weeks?

The summer session runs 11 weeks. You can choose the number of weeks you would like to attend and those weeks do not have to be consecutive. The cost for the session is based on the number of weeks you choose. You can also elect to pay in full at the time of registration, or pay half at booking, and half on July 1st.

Registrations after July 1st must be paid in full.

Weeks can also be added on after the fact, with payment due at the time of extension.

What is the School Year Billing Cycle?

School Year class tuition is paid monthly, based on four classes each month. Tuition is always due on the the first of the month for that upcoming month. See the Billing Calendar for specific dates during each monthly cycle.

Occasionally due to holidays or specicial events there are either 3 or 5 weeks in a billing cycle. Tuition is then prorated accordingly.

When is tuition due for school year classes?

Classes must be pre-paid for, and tuition is due on the first of the month. Ex- October class tuition is due October 1st, November class tuition is due November 1st, etc. Tuition may be paid in person during office hours, postmarked on or before the due date, or paid online through our customer portal.

How Does Summer Billing Work?

The Summer Session is based around the number of weeks you wish to attend. You can either pay in full at the time of registration, or pay half then, and half July 1st. You will receive a statement on June 10th if you choose the 50/50 option. There is no automatic payment for summer.

Can I Set up Automatic Payments?

Yes! In order to set up autmatic payment you must-

  1. Log in to your customer portal and navigate to the Billing and Payments section
  2. Make sure you have a credit card on file under Saved Payment Methods
  3. Click on E-Payment Schedule and then select Withdrawal on the 21st from the drop down menu.

Your credit card will be charged on the 21st of the month before until either the session ends, you withdraw from classes, or you change your portal setting. Ex- November tuition will be charged on October 21st. Automatic payment only applies to the school year session.

Note- If you enroll in automatic payments after the 21st of the month, you will still need to make a manual payment for that billing period. The automatic payment will start up on the next cycle.

Do you have a Membership Fee?

An annual registration and insurance fee of $30 per child, or $45 per family is due upon enrollment and is non-refundable. Our registration year runs from September 1st-August 31st, and the fee is prorated in January, March, and Summer. Altius carries excess medical and libaility insurance for all members. Your own carrier is your primary insuration.

Is There a Late Fee?

Payments postmarked or received after the due date are subject to a $10 late fee.

What Payment Methods do you Accept?

We accept cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover

How Are Tuition Statements Delivered?

All statements will be sent to the e-mail account you provided us at registration on the 10th of the month. Please check to make sure your account receives mail from You can request to receive paper statements instead by setting your statement delivery preference to “snail mail” through the customer portal.

If I Register for the School Year am I Locked in for the Entire Session?

No. The school year session runs month to month billing. This means that you can join, transfer, or drop throughout the entire session. Our office will keep you enrolled every month unless you notify us otherwise.

Class Policies

What Are Your Policies for Class Arrival and Dismissal?

Please arrive no more than 5 minutes before class begins. Have your child use the bathroom, put hair up neatly, and cover any warts or cuts while at home. Running and gymnastics in the waiting area is not allowed. Children in the waiting area should be supervised at all times.

Please meet your child promptly in the lobby at the end of their class. Children may never wait or play outside without a supervisor of at least 18 years of age. If you are going to be late picking up, please call Altius to let us know.

Am I Allowed to Stay and Watch The Class?

Parents and siblings may observe from the waiting area only (unless, of course, it is a parent/child class). Due to social distancing, we request that parents observe only if necessary, and that only one adult observe.

Please do not “coach” your child from the sidelines. Comments made by parents distract all of the students in the class and create confusion. If your child is unable to use the rest room by his/herself, we ask that you stay on the bleachers where your child can find you during class. Coaches are NOT able to assist children in the rest room during class time.

Do I Need to Notify You if My Child Will Be Absent?

It's not required to let our office know about planned absences ahead of time, but we do appreciate it! Our customer portal also allows you to submit your absences online ahead of time. No need to call or stop at the front desk! View the How-To Video HERE.

What Should My Child Wear to Class?
Proper class attire and hair style help to create the disciplined environment required for gymnastics & tumbling classes. We find that when students come to class dressed and groomed appropriately, they also come prepared to pay attention and make good use of their class time.
  • Girls: A leotard with hair neatly pulled back in a ponytail or braid. No jewerly, tights, pajama pants, or skirted leos are allowed. Girls in Class 3 & up are required to wear a leo to class. No bare midriffs please.
  • Boys: Gym shorts with a tucked in t-shirt. No socks or shorts with buttons or zippers please.
  • Tumbling: Clean shoes or bare feet, shorts, and a fitted t-shirt or tank top. No bare midriffs or spaghetti straps please. Long hair should be in a ponytail.
  • Ninja: Athletic shorts and a tucked-in t-shirt for girls and boys, OR girls may choose to wear a leotard. Please NO jeans, skirts, pants that drag on the floor, tights or socks for safety reasons.
What is the School Year Program Withdrawal Policy?

A class spot is held for your child while they are officially enrolled. Altius assumes that once you have enrolled, your child will attend through the school year until June 2021. If you would like to withdraw from the program before the last class, you may do so by following the procedure listed below:

  1. Notification of withdrawal is required by the 20th of the month to withdraw for the upcoming month.
  2. A parent must notify the office in person, via phone, or the customer portal regarding their intent to withdraw.
  3. The final class date is the last date in the current month’s billing cycle, not necessarily the last calendar date.
  4. Withdrawal from the program is not retroactive at any time, for any reason.
  5. Drops received from the 21st - 31st will be honored, minus a 25% class tuition charge.
  6. Drops received from the 1st - 20th will apply to the following month.

Students who have paid the annual membership fee may re-join the program at any time throughout the year (September - August) as long as there is a spot available in the class. All students are automatically withdrawn from their School Year class after Expo Week Concludes. Summer is a separate “session” and is registered for separately in the spring.

What is the Summer Program Withdrawal Policy?

Refunds will be given up to June 15th minus a $35 processing fee. Cancellations received after June 15th will be refunded minus 4 weeks of tuition.

How Are Skills Tracked, and When Is My Child Promoted?

Students are given class recommendations during the summer session, but due to the short duration we do not do formal skill testing.

During the school year, coaches follow bi-weekly lesson plans and evaluate skills when indicated. Progressive gymnastics students are promoted when they demonstrate profficiency on 75% of the skills in their level. Kindergym students are promoted based on age & emotional readiness. Altius sends a promotion letter & ribbon in the mail when a child is ready for the next level. After receiving the letter, please call or stop by the front desk to arrange a class change for your child.
Kindergym promotions are based on age and physical/emotional readiness.
Girls and Boys Gymnastics promotions are based on age and skill proficiency.

How Will I know if Your Cancel Classes Due to Weather?

Any closing will be listed on WISN 12, TMJ 4, on the Altius website, and our Facebook page. During inclement weather, please check our website to see if we are open instead of calling the gym.

Generally, we try to keep Altius open as much as possible. Since most of our classes are in the afternoon or evening, we don't necessarily follow school district closings, as the roads may be clear by the afternoon depending on the timing of the storm. We also don't have a need to factor children walking/waiting outside and busing logistics into our decision. We DO consider driving conditions for both our customers and our staff.

If Altius stays open and you feel uncomfortable traveling to a class in the weather conditions, you are welcome to schedule a makeup or request an open gym pass good for KinderTime, Family, or Grade School Open Gyms via the front desk.

In the case of Altius closing due to extreme weather conditions, we email open gym passes to recreational students who miss class. Per our customer handbook, Altius does not offer refunds, credits, or make-ups for extreme weather cancellations. In the rare case that we cancel on the same day TWICE in one season, we will issue account credits to the affected customers.
